The History Of Waterloo Region

The area now known as Waterloo Region was originally inhabited by Indigenous peoples, including the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Neutral Nations. In the early 19th century, European settlers began arriving, primarily from mennonites from Pennsylvania, bringing with them German traditions, language, and culture and remaining a fixture of the region to this day.
