Saving Your Energy Bill

Saving Your Energy Bill

With the snow falling down and temperatures in the negative, it’s clear that Winter is truly here. As such, we tend to notice our energy bills shooting up with the use of heating, holiday decorations, and more lights with the ever so early setting sun. For many these extra expenses are quite unpleasant and so it’s a good time to start changing your habits to lower that rising bill.

Simple changes, such as switching your light bulbs to LED ones can greatly lower that costly energy bill. Make sure to do fewer large loads of laundry rather than many small loads, turn off lights whenever a room is empty, and make sure your festive lights are LEDs as well. When the sun is at its brightest make sure to open your curtains and let the sunlight flood in, naturally heating the home.

Try turning down your thermostat just a single degree and putting on warmer clothes at home, this simple adjustment can save a fair bit on that pesky energy bill. Speaking of clothes, try washing in tap cold water rather than hot water. Most of all, look at your energy bill and pinpoint where exactly your money is going; Find out what your greatest expenditure is and target that as a first step.
