Pumpkin Patches in Waterloo Region: Where to Find Your Perfect Pumpkin This Fall
The leaves are changing, the air has that unmistakable crispness, and local farms are overflowing with pumpkins, gourds, squash and all the colourful signs of harvest season. Whether you’re looking for a simple stop to pick up a few pumpkins for the front porch or hoping to turn pumpkin picking into a full family day, there are plenty of great options close to home.
Snyder’s Family Farm
Snyder's Family Farm in Bright is one of the biggest fall destinations in the area, and it’s an easy choice when you want your pumpkin-picking trip to be much more than just picking a pumpkin.
The farm’s 16-acre pumpkin patch features everything from classic jack-o’-lantern pumpkins to mini pumpkins, specialty varieties and colourful gourds. Wagons are available to help bring your pumpkins back, and perhaps best of all for anyone who simply wants to wander through the patch and choose a few pumpkins, there’s no admission required to visit the pumpkin patch and Red Barn Bakery.
For those looking to make a full day of it, Snyder’s offers plenty of additional fall attractions, including its corn maze, hayrides, barnyard activities, seasonal food and other farm experiences. The 2026 fall season opened September 12.
Good Family Farm
For something a little more low-key, head to Good Family Farm on Bridge Street East in Waterloo.
This family-run farm has been selling pumpkins since 1994, when the Good family put some extra pumpkins from their small patch beside the road to see if people would buy them. The idea took off, and today the farm grows more than 100 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds.
This is the kind of place to visit when you already know exactly what you want, or when you want to browse a huge selection and discover something unusual. Along with pumpkins, you’ll find squash, gourds, festive corn and straw bales, making it a great stop for both Halloween decorating and fall porch displays.
Good Family Farm is open seasonally from September into October, with current posted hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Strom’s Farm & Bakery
Just outside Waterloo Region in Guelph, Strom’s Farm & Bakery is another excellent fall destination and is only about a 15-minute drive from Kitchener-Waterloo.
One important distinction: Strom’s does not offer traditional pick-your-own pumpkins in the field. Instead, the farm hand-selects pumpkins from its fields and brings them to the market, creating a large display where visitors can choose from a wide selection.
And while you’re there, it’s easy to turn pumpkin shopping into a full fall adventure. Strom’s Harvest Fun Area includes a 5-acre corn maze, straw and tile mazes, pedal carts, wagon rides, pumpkin chuckin’, a low ropes course and more. The farm is also known for its scratch bakery and seasonal treats.
For 2026, the market and bakery are open Wednesday through Sunday from September 18 to October 31, while the Harvest Fun Area operates on weekdays and weekends during the fall season.
Make a Day of It
One of the best things about pumpkin season in Waterloo Region is that you don’t have to travel far to enjoy a classic Ontario fall day.
For a big family adventure, Snyder’s is a natural choice. If you’re primarily looking for pumpkins, squash and gourds, Good Family Farm keeps things simple and local. And if you want to combine your pumpkin stop with mazes, activities and something delicious from the bakery, Strom’s makes for a fun fall outing just beyond the region.
Wherever you go, wear shoes you don’t mind getting a little muddy, bring a reusable bag or wagon if you’re planning to load up on smaller pumpkins, and leave a little room in the car for an impulse-buy gourd or two.
Because around here, once you start shopping for pumpkins, it’s surprisingly easy to come home with more than you planned.
And honestly? That’s part of the fun of fall.
