With February done and March starting, it’s finally time for KW to warm up and defrost. For those of us in KW who are sports fans, especially basketball ones eagerly looking forward to the NCAA tournament, let’s talk about local sports and where to enjoy the games.

For those looking to grab a brewski and watch sports in the company of other fans, there are plenty of options in the region. With plenty of awesome sports bars, both chains and standalones, let’s look at some choices. For those in Kitchener who love a warm environment and cheaper prices, check out the Sportsworld Moose Winooski’s or Jack Astor’s. For those in Waterloo who desire a classic pub environment often filled with other sports fans, Duke of Wellington is a great option as is Molly Bloom’s or Morty’s. For those specifically looking for a high-quality selection of beverages, The Bent Elbow is known for its fabulous and broad selection.

For those looking to take a peek at the local sports teams, surprisingly KW is the place to be. For hockey fans, the Kitchener Rangers will be playing every week this month. Not only do they play frequently, but they have a game on a variety of days giving those with irregular schedules a chance to check them out. For those who prefer courts and hoops over ice and nets, check out the KW Titans basketball team. With various games throughout March and April, they make a great event for friends or family. Not only that, but the team is actually the first not-for-profit team in all of Canada, so you can feel good about attending and supporting.

KW is, unlike plenty of other cities in the province, a great spot to be for sports fans, whether for checking out local teams or merely enjoying the presence of other fans. Don’t be afraid to call up some friends or make new ones and enjoy the electric energy that sports games provide!
