Keeping The Outdoors Out

With the ample snow beginning to melt and the weather heating up, the time of muddy boots and spring coats has arrived. Kids tracking in mud, wet shoes, and jackets galore are basically a staple in any Canadian home during Spring.  Entryways and mudrooms are key to keeping the outdoors actually out-doors, so let’s talk about organization.

For some it’s the front door, for others the side door and others the garage, but regardless everyone has a main point of entry into their home. Keeping that space organized is key to keeping your home both presentable and clean. If you have kids, a bench is a great way to not only keep your space cute but also functionable in the colder seasons. A storage bench is a great multifunctional option as not only can you sit on it to put on or take off shoes, but it serves as a great storage option for hats, scarves, and mittens.

Every Canadian has a coat and the majority have multiple, but keeping them sorted is an entirely separate matter. Hooks not only look stylish, but are a great way to store clutterable coats and jackets. Storage cubbies are another option, albeit one with a greater price tag. For those with children, they are a great option as they can be labeled and used to keep items separate from one another.

With the influx of rain this season, mud is an inevitable foe. Adding a mat both outside the door and inside the home is a handy way to make sure the mud stays away from your clean floors.

For those fortunate enough to have a mudroom, rugs are a great option to prevent unnecessary spills and falls. Vertical wall storage units can be perfect for storing an abundance of jackets, coats, and accessories. If you lack the space, adding some extra shelving can be a great way to conserve space.
