Get Your Home Smelling Like Autumn

Autumn Scents

With October finally here, it’s truly autumn already. The leaves have turned red, the wind has chilled, and gone is the time of shorts and tank tops. With one spending more time indoors and the lack of open windows, you may find your home is feeling a bit stuffy with the lack of fresh air. Fall is a great time to look into getting your home smelling especially good, as we all know with Canadian winters one is more inclined to rest in the warmth of their own home rather than the chilly outdoors.

The most classic way to get your home smelling delicious; scented candles. A common gift and staple of many homes, scented candles are wonderful for not only their delectable scents but also their ambience lighting. If you're looking for affordable options, stores like Winners, Homesense, and Marshalls often have quite the variety. Classic fall scents include pumpkin pie or spice, campfire, spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, and apple.

For those opposed to open flames but still okay with heat, incense is a classic way to fill a room with rich, warm scents. Often available in bulk online and found in many variety shops, scents like cinnamon, sandalwood, sage, and vanilla are both common and perfect for autumn.

For those who dislike the idea of any real heat, such as those with children or rambunctious pets, diffusers are a great safe and often stylish option. With a bit of water and some essential oils these simple devices often serve as not only a way to make a space smell amazing, but as a piece of decor as well. Many specialty shops as well as websites such as Amazon carry not only basic scents, but also special autumn specific blends. Classic autumn essential oils such as cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and bergamot are simple to find and easily mix to make your own custom fall blend!
