Fall Prepping

Fall Prepping

Fall Prepping

September; Not quite summer, not quite fall, but a rather transitionary month. As such, while the warmth lasts September is the perfect time to get ready for the chilly months to come. With October already fast approaching, for those with a green thumb this next month is the perfect time to plant bulbs for spring flowers, such as tulips, lilies, daffodils, and more.

Though still warm, any Canadian knows soon it’ll be brisk. As such, while still free of snow and wind chills, now is the perfect time to prepare and make sure your home is ready to be a warm oasis among a sea of chilly white. For those with a fireplace, it’s time to stock up on firewood and make sure your fireplace/chimney is in tip-top shape. Also, don’t forget to check on your furnace, change any filters, and make sure it’s ready to handle the coming cold.

Once you feel the wind get chillier, don’t be afraid to open up the linen closet and bring out the thicker bedding. If you’re in need of pillows, look for heavy down ones if possible. And don’t forget to bring out the coats, no one wants to be stuck in a sudden bout of snow without the proper protection.

All in all, take this month to get ready for the coming winter and autumn and save yourself the trouble of being in the cold unprepared.
