Waterloo Region, with its numerous post-secondary and STEM-based institutions, is a hub for learning. Living in the region means an abundance in enriching opportunities for a variety of subjects. This month, we’ll be looking at some of these educational opportunities and where to grow your knowledge.

 

Perhaps one of the most well-known scientific institutions in the region is the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics; An establishment focused on research and development of the many aspects of physics. Though seemingly elite and off-limits to the public, in fact the Perimeter Institute has a variety of learning opportunities for those of all ages. The institution has yearly events for families and a regular schedule of public seminars for anyone interested. For those who prefer a good book to the wonders of the universe, both the Waterloo and Kitchener public library offer a variety of experiences for those of all ages. KPL hosts a wide range of events, all found on https://kpl.events.mylibrary.digital/ . 85 Queen hosts a variety of events, from author-readings to films to current events; This month, hear from romance authors Tessa Bailey and Yulin Kuan. Don't forget to check out their book clubs and artist events as well! The WPL offers a variety of programs as well; Teen-writing contests, knitting and crochet clubs, early-learner activities, PD day programs, and more. If you’re looking for something educational to do in the region, be sure to check out your local library’s website for a variety of opportunities!
