Last year and, arguably the past half-decade, have been all about light, minimalist designs. However, we think a departure from this outdated theme is incoming and the time of dark palettes and maximalism are here. Even for those who prefer lighter themes, adding in pops of dark and mixing textures can add a trendy feeling to a once minimalistic space. Mixing patterns, warm earth tones, and lots of decor are what we think will be “in” this year.
Looking back to social media trends and seeing their rise in popularity, we can deduce some themes will become highlighted these coming months. No more “modern, clean farmhouse”, but rather “dark, gothic estate”, as the immensely popular Scandinavian and Southern farmhouse seem to be exciting the public eye of popularity. We foresee themes like dark academia, vintage gothic, and rich 70’s vintage paving their way to popularity. Darker, richer colours with mixed textures and a maximalist decor seem to be what's up in the home decor world of 2023.
